FREEing, a Japanese toy company under the GOOD SMILE COMPANY umbrella, is set to release two main fighter model kits from the shooting game "R-TYPE FINAL 2" – the R-13A and RX-10 – in March 2022 as part of their figma series.

For many veteran gamers, the side-scrolling shooter "R-TYPE" holds a special place in their hearts. First launched by Irem in 1987 as an arcade title, players piloted the distinctively designed R-9 fighter, skillfully manipulating the external orb weapon, the "Force," to combat incoming enemies. This involved strategically attaching the Force to either the front or rear of the ship, in addition to charging up and unleashing its devastating Wave Cannon. The game was also notoriously difficult, requiring players to repeatedly experiment and discover the optimal strategies for success. It was a truly challenging title for its era.
Now, figma is bringing the "R-13A" (codename: CERBERUS) and "RX-10" (codename: ALBATROSS) to life, directly from "R-TYPE FINAL 2," the recently released latest installment in the series, which made its long-awaited return to next-gen consoles after many years, maintaining its signature high difficulty. These two iconic fighters are now being released by figma as model kits, each measuring approximately 10 cm in length. They come with a display stand and their dedicated Force units (complete with bases), allowing for dynamic posing to recreate in-game scenes.
