Japan's RE-MENT company, renowned for its captivating miniature and candy toy lines that range from tiny accessories to elaborate dioramas, recently announced two new complementary releases for its popular "Puchi Sample Series": "There's No Place Like Home" (やっぱり実家はいいもんだ。) and "Cozy Kotatsu at Home" (実家でぬくぬくおこた)! Both are slated for release on November 29, 2021.
Many Japanese dramas and anime often depict young people leaving their hometowns to work in big cities, only to return to their rural childhood homes for various reasons or simply for a long holiday. The atmosphere in these stories often shifts from a high-pressure, fast pace to a relaxed, slow rhythm. Does RE-MENT's latest miniature series evoke a similar feeling for you? The collection, themed around a childhood home or a family's ancestral house, features everyday living room accessories. From a vintage VCR and a retro single-seater armchair to a homemade medicine box labeled "くすり" (kusuri, medicine), every detail exudes a charming, nostalgic vibe.
First up are the 8 items in the "There's No Place Like Home" set:
1. "I used to go out with Grandma a lot around this time!" (Looking at a photo album) /
2. "Too many TV shows I want to watch!" /
3. "Mom will get mad if you drink too much!"
4. "I'll put the kerosene in right away, just a moment!" (Worried the cat might get cold) /
5. "Mom, I can't eat all this!"
6. "I still need to send a New Year's card to my advisor later." /
7. "Things that are always on the shelf." /
8. "Thank you for watching over my home again this year."
Next is the "Cozy Kotatsu at Home" accessory set, which prominently features a kotatsu. This fantastic set includes the iconic kotatsu table, cushions, a thermos, a teapot, a teacup with a standing tea stem, and tangerines, among other items. What's even cooler is that collectors can remove the kotatsu blanket to transform it into a regular square table – how fun! Plus, there's a first-production limited bonus: a cat sleeping belly-up (へそ天猫ちゃん).
