The hero descends! SEGA PRIZE, the prize figure division of Japanese company SEGA, is set to release a new line of character prize figures from the currently airing classic anime series, "Dragon Quest: The Adventure of Dai"! The very first release, launching on August 5th, is none other than the protagonist hero, Dai!
"Dragon Quest: The Adventure of Dai" (ドラゴンクエスト ダイのだいぼうけん) is an adaptation of Japan's beloved national RPG game, "Dragon Quest." Written by Riku Sanjo and illustrated by Koji Inada, the manga began serialization in Shueisha's "Weekly Shonen Jump" magazine in 1989, spanning 37 volumes. A new anime adaptation premiered in October 2020, with its latest episode count at 43. The story chronicles the epic journey of protagonist Dai, as he transforms from a weak boy into a true hero through a series of adventures and battles.
From a young age, Dai (ダイ), a boy who dreamed of becoming a hero, lived with his monster grandfather. After encountering Princess Leona and Avan, he embarked on a journey to defeat the Demon Lord's army alongside Popp. Later, he discovered his lineage as a Dragon Knight, awakening his Dragon Crest power and becoming a formidable force. Dai is a true hero, possessing both immense strength and a gentle spirit.
This SEGA PRIZE Dai figure stands approximately 15 cm tall. It captures Dai in the dynamic pose of his most famous special attack, the "Avan Strash" (アバンストラッシュ), looking incredibly lively and powerful. All the intricate details, including the cross-shaped scar on Dai's face, are faithfully reproduced. Fans of the series or those following the anime should definitely check it out.
