ROBOT SPIRITS AGX-04 Gerbera-Tetra Review: The Mysterious Gerbera Blooms, Featuring a Twin-Cannon GP03 Cameo!

The AGX-04, originally the GP04, was the final mobile suit piloted by the tragic character Cima Garahau in "Mobile Suit Gundam 0083: Stardust Memory."

While it was inherently a Gundam, its extensive modifications to disguise its origins couldn't quite mask its underlying Gundam aesthetic.

The entire GP series of Gundams are named after flowers, each with its own symbolic flower language. Let's take a moment to revisit them:

GP00 Blossom: Named after a fruit tree flower, symbolizing "Beginning."

GP01 Zephyranthes: Symbolizing "Pure Love."

GP02 Physalis: Symbolizing "Deception."

GP03 Dendrobium: A type of orchid, symbolizing "Capricious Beauty." Its weapon container is called the ORCHIS (Calyx), and the core Gundam, the GP03S, is known as the STAMEN (Pistil).

GP04 Gerbera: Named after the Gerbera daisy, symbolizing "Mystery."

The mysterious GP04, after quietly changing its appearance, was ultimately destroyed by a single shot from the GP03.

Now, let's dive into the figure itself.

The head articulation is surprisingly good. I initially expected limited movement, but its range of motion is quite impressive.

The arm articulation is also excellent and more than sufficient. The shoulder armor design is similar to the ROBOT SPIRITS EVA series, attaching to the main body and hanging over the arm without hindering its movement.

However, swapping out the hands proved a bit challenging due to one side of the hand armor protruding, requiring some extra effort.

The waist articulation is decent, allowing for left and right rotation.

The leg articulation is highly flexible, allowing the figure to stand on one leg. The ankle joints offer an extremely wide range of motion.

However, the placement of the beam saber hilts on either side of the waist is less than ideal; hanging them on the upper thighs doesn't look particularly appealing.

On the back, an external booster unit can be attached. While quite long, it's surprisingly lightweight, so adding it to the back doesn't cause any stability issues.

The entire body features numerous attachment points, perfect for adding thruster effect parts. With so many effect parts available these days, collectors can easily choose their favorites.

For weaponry, the figure includes a beam saber and a beam rifle. Without additional effect parts, the display can feel a bit plain. However, once effect parts are added, the entire figure truly comes to life.

While attaching the effect parts is convenient, getting them to stay in place can be difficult. They have considerable weight, and once attached, the arms or wrists tend to sag significantly. This is a major issue. Either the effect parts need to be lighter, or a display stand is essential; otherwise, dynamic posing becomes nearly impossible!

Also making a guest appearance is the twin-cannon version of the Gundam GP03. You might wonder why I have two cannons when a single GP03 box only includes one. Well, I splurged and bought an extra GP03 just for that identical large cannon – a truly extravagant purchase!

However, wielding twin cannons is precisely the look fans who've watched the anime and played GVG (Gundam Versus Gundam) naturally crave! GP03D... when will we finally see you?
