Good Smile Company is expanding its massively popular Nendoroid figure line with a new release from the hit romantic comedy series "Rent-A-Girlfriend"! Joining the cast is the adorably shy Sumi Sakurasawa, with a release scheduled for January 2023.
"Rent-A-Girlfriend" (Kanojo, Okarishimasu) is a manga series by Reiji Miyajima that began serialization in Kodansha's "Weekly Shōnen Magazine" in 2017. An anime adaptation was announced in December 2019, with its first season airing in July 2020. The second season is slated for a July 2022 premiere.
The story follows Kazuya Kinoshita, a college student who, after a bad breakup, uses an online "rental girlfriend" service. He's unexpectedly matched with the stunningly beautiful Chizuru Mizuhara, and he can't help but be captivated. Through a series of wild coincidences, the two begin a complicated and ambiguous relationship.
Sumi Sakurasawa, one of the main heroines, works at the same rental girlfriend agency as Chizuru Mizuhara. Sumi has a quiet and gentle personality, with hobbies like calligraphy, but she also has a cute, girly side. Despite her charming appearance, she is extremely shy, lacks self-confidence, and struggles with communication. To overcome these challenges, she decides to become a rental girlfriend, looking up to Chizuru as her role model. Chizuru keeps a close eye on her junior colleague, and Kazuya even "rents" Sumi to offer her advice and encouragement, helping her to gradually open up.
This Nendoroid perfectly captures Sumi's sweet and demure look. Since she's prone to blushing, all three of her interchangeable face plates—a standard expression, a smiling expression, and a shy expression—prominently feature her signature rosy cheeks. Accessories include her green handbag, an ice cream cone from the series, and multiple hand parts for a variety of poses. If you're a fan of Sumi Sakurasawa, this is a release you won't want to miss!
