BANDAI's GASHAPON division in Japan understands this sentiment and will be collaborating to release the "Okashitsukasa Beniya Miyake Wagashi Collection Neko-tama & Tori-tama" capsule toys! There will be 8 types in total, with a reference price of 300 JPY per turn, scheduled for release in June 2022!
The Tochigi Prefecture sweets shop Beniya Miyake Wagashi, popular on Twitter, has its owner, Masaaki Miyake, who, in response to customers' requests of "too cute to eat," uses his artisan skills as a first-class wagashi craftsman, combined with innovative ideas that overturn traditional wagashi designs, to create a series of adorable animal-themed wagashi! He became an internet sensation with his super cute chubby seal, and has since continued to develop popular products featuring cats, Shiba Inus, and birds.
The "Okashitsukasa Beniya Miyake Wagashi Collection Neko-tama & Tori-tama" capsule toys faithfully recreate Master Masaaki Miyake's wagashi through 3D scanning, producing colorful and vibrant wagashi charms! There are four color variations each for the cat and parakeet wagashi, and each comes with a delicate black plate for display. The soft and realistic paintwork makes them look delicious~ Collecting the whole set is even more impressive! But this time, they really aren't edible~
