Japanese gashapon toy manufacturer "State of the Art" (SO-TA / 株式会社SO-TA), following previous collaborations with Japanese design team Frog Tree on products like the "Rinkaku" gashapon, is once again taking "Kasho Kitanroku" as its theme to release the second installment in the series, the "Kasho Kitanroku Muya" gashapon / box toy. There will be four variations for each, scheduled for release in September 2022.
The Japanese three-person design team Frog Tree (フロッグツリー) is renowned for their soft vinyl works, characterized by intricate and complex designs and artistic-grade painted finishes. Their new "Kasho Kitanroku" series presents Frog Tree's original worldview. Chapter 1 features "Ikikimiki - Vajra," inspired by Indra's weapon from ancient Indian mythology. Chapter 2 reinterprets the legendary creature "Uya Muya / Muya," creating a divine beast with a snake-like head adorned with kirin horns, a body covered in thick scales, and radiant wings.

The "Kasho Kitanroku Muya" (Kasho Kitanroku Muya) gashapon, approximately 152 mm in length, meticulously recreates Muya's complex biological form. Details such as the kirin horns on its head, sharp claws on its limbs, and cloud-like fur are all delicately rendered. The entire body features up to 22 points of articulation, including the opening and closing of its mouth and the swaying of its tail. The articulation of its radiant wings and foot claws further allows for natural dynamic poses, depicting the divine beast descending and walking. The gashapon version includes: Ichiru with purple-green paintwork, Kuromu in white-blue (gashapon exclusive colorway), and additionally, Kōmyō and Suiten are made from glow-in-the-dark and clear materials, respectively.
