Produced by Japan's PLEX Company and distributed by X-PLUS Company, the popular soft vinyl figure series 'DefoReal,' which incorporates intricate realistic details into adorable deformed proportions, recently showcased the unpainted prototype of its latest product, "Iris," from the movie 'Gamera 3: Revenge of Iris' at the SUPER FESTIVAL toy exhibition and sale event. It is scheduled for release in December 2022.
Iris is Gamera's primary antagonist in 'Gamera 3: Revenge of Iris,' anciently known as "Ryuseicho." Legend has it that once Ryuseicho revives, it will bring about the end of the world, thus it was sealed in a deep mountain shrine in Minami Asuka Village, Japan. However, Ayana Hirasaka, a girl who deeply resented Gamera after her parents perished in a kaiju battle, broke the seal and named it "Iris" after her deceased pet cat, fully conveying her desire for revenge against Gamera to Iris, believing it could kill Gamera for her.
The "DefoReal Iris" is presented in an approximately 2.5-head-tall proportion, with biological-looking muscles and carapace patterns sculpted across its entire body. The head, resembling an exoskeleton, has an extremely strong presence, and the horn protruding from its top is almost 1:1 in proportion to its body. Along with the carapaces at the ends of its two arms and four tentacles, it possesses an extremely threatening sharp design, exuding a ferocity and power no less than that of its normal-proportioned counterpart.
