Following the release of Gundam Kimaris Vidar, the 'METAL ROBOT SPIRITS' series, released by Japan's BANDAI SPIRITS Collectors Division TAMASHII NATIONS and featuring metallic paint finishes and alloy frames, has once again announced its latest product from 'Mobile Suit Gundam Iron-Blooded Orphans', the 'Gundam Kimaris Vidar', slated for release in December 2022.
The Gundam Kimaris Vidar is the true form that Gaelio Bauduin restored based on Calamity War era data, after unmasking the Gundam Kimaris Vidar (its previously disguised form) and resolving to defeat the Gjallarhorn traitor and former close friend, McGillis Fareed. Its appearance reverts to the design of the Gundam Kimaris series, with thrusters placed throughout its body to enhance its adaptability in space. The back support arms connect to two shields, and it is equipped with weapons such as the 'Drill Lance', capable of firing Dainsleif rounds. It also retains the 'Alaya-Vijnana System Type E', which can significantly enhance reaction speed and mobility for a short period.
The 'METAL ROBOT SPIRITS Gundam Kimaris Vidar' features sculpting supervision by mechanical designer Ippei Gyobu, who has imbued the model with a premium feel while pursuing the ultimate in-show appearance. The mobile suit's frame is constructed with numerous alloy parts and finished with electroplating, while the exterior armor utilizes various matte and metallic paint applications for a profound sense of weight. Furthermore, a wealth of body markings and line patterns are printed, not only significantly enhancing detail density but also reinforcing the realistic weapon-like texture.
The articulation structure is also designed by Ryu Sakano, who is responsible for the MR SPIRITS series. The flexible alloy joints allow for the recreation of powerful battle poses from the show, while also possessing characteristics such as tightness and a sense of weight. The chest cockpit hatch features an opening gimmick, and the shields on both shoulders can be deployed in multiple directions—front, middle, and back—via movable support arms.
Among the weapon accessories, the main weapon, the 'Drill Lance', boasts a thick and imposing design. When connected to the shield, it can recreate the Dainsleif firing mode, and can be loaded with the included special KEP rounds. The metallic-painted 'Sword' can be stored in the side skirt armor, while the drills concealed within the knees can be reproduced in their deployed state through interchangeable parts. Additionally, the accessories include the 'eye glow effect parts', a characteristic feature of Iron-Blooded Orphans mobile suits, which enhance the menacing aura when used with various weapons!
