The world-renowned film and television special effects company, WETA Workshop, recently announced its latest product from "The Lord of the Rings: The Two Towers": the "The Dead Marshes" 1/6 scale diorama statue! Limited to 550 pieces, pre-orders are scheduled to open on July 22, 2022, at 2:00 PM (PDT)!
In the story of "The Lord of the Rings," The Dead Marshes are located between Mordor and the Emyn Muil mountain range. Due to the brutal battles of the Second Age and the ever-expanding marshland, this area has become a terrifying, death-shrouded swamp, difficult to navigate like a labyrinth. In the film "The Two Towers," when Frodo, Sam, and Gollum passed through this area, they not only saw burning will-o'-the-wisps but also glimpsed countless corpses beneath the water, a truly horrifying sight.
This time, WETA has masterfully recreated the tense moment from the film where Frodo falls into the marsh, and a frantic Sam and Gollum prepare to rescue him, using astonishing sculpting prowess. Through the dynamic sculpting of the characters and the integrated LED lighting feature, it not only vividly portrays the floating sensation underwater and the slow passage of time, but the eerie lighting also conveys the terrifying atmosphere of a place where the souls of the dead have accumulated over long years. Gollum's hand reaching into the water serves as a breakthrough, bridging the real and spectral worlds to save Frodo! The realistic texture of the weeds, the sculpted deadwood, and the grotesque facial expressions of the specters are all excellently rendered in detail. The floating One Ring necklace further emphasizes the sinking Frodo. The overall piece is truly magnificent!
