Following the Strike Gundam, the latest product from the 'ROBOT SPIRITS ver. A.N.I.M.E.' series of robot-themed action figures, released by TAMASHII NATIONS, the collectors' toy division of Japan's BANDAI SPIRITS Company, has been announced today: the 'Duel Gundam' from 'Mobile Suit Gundam SEED', scheduled for release in January 2023.
The GAT-X102 Duel Gundam is one of five GAT series mobile suits secretly developed by the Atlantic Federation in Heliopolis. It was later successfully seized by the Z.A.F.T. military and piloted by elite pilot Yzak Joule. As the earliest developed unit among the five, it does not possess particularly outstanding performance compared to the other four Gundams. Its development objective was close-quarters combat with Z.A.F.T. mobile suits. In addition to its PS armor, which effectively resists solid projectile attacks, it can also utilize most Earth Alliance standard-issue weapons, equipped with armaments such as a high-energy beam rifle with a mounted grenade launcher, an anti-beam shield, and beam sabers.
The 'ROBOT SPIRITS Duel Gundam ver. A.N.I.M.E.' faithfully recreates the refined armor lines as depicted in the series. The articulation design adopts the same specifications as the Strike Gundam, including shoulder joints that allow the arms to be raised to the chest, a waist joint that can lean significantly forward, and calves that can swing slightly left and right, enabling a wide range of cool poses.
Accessories include various interchangeable hand parts, a high-energy beam rifle, an anti-beam shield, beam sabers, and other armaments. It also features the 350mm "Gae Bulg" Electromagnetic Rail Cannon, a weapon that was conceptually adopted by the Astray Gundam (new color variant) but was not used by the Duel Gundam in the series.
Furthermore, a variety of effect parts are included, allowing for four thruster effects to be attached to the backpack. The beam rifle and beam sabers can also recreate beam firing and grenade launching scenes. There are even intense spark effects for armor hit by the "Armor Schneider," recreating the famous battle scenes between Strike Gundam and Duel Gundam!
