To commemorate the 40th anniversary of the sci-fi anime 'Macross,' BANDAI SPIRITS' collector's toy division TAMASHII NATIONS in Japan has officially announced today the first commemorative product, the transforming alloy toy 'DX Chogokin' series' "VF-1A Valkyrie ANGEL BIRDS," slated for release in January 2023.
The VF-1A Valkyrie ANGEL BIRDS is a variable fighter utilized by the U.N. Spacy's flight acrobatic team, "Angel Birds." In the first episode of 'Macross,' it performed a spectacular five-unit formation aerial display for the MACROSS launch ceremony. This model is fundamentally identical to the standard VF-1A, featuring a three-stage transformation mechanism. However, its body boasts a white base paint scheme with striking red and blue lines, and it is not equipped with offensive armaments like the GUN POD, but rather smoke generators for its performances.
The "DX Chogokin VF-1A Valkyrie ANGEL BIRDS" largely reuses parts from previously released VF-1A Valkyrie models, featuring cool high-density armor panel lines, a three-stage transformation mechanism, and a meticulously detailed cockpit interior with a pilot figure. Its exterior coloring has been changed to the characteristic red, blue, and white scheme of the ANGEL BIRDS specifications, and the fuselage is adorned with markings and emblems designed by Hidetaka Tenjin. This ensures its striking appearance is showcased beautifully in FIGHTER, GERWALK, and BATTROID modes.
Accessories include a clear blue display stand designed to evoke a blue sky, antennas for GERWALK mode, abdominal detail enhancement parts, and a GUN POD as a bonus part. Additionally, four pairs of tail fins for units 2-5 are included. A new mechanism for interchangeable tail fin parts has been implemented, allowing you to easily switch between the appearances of units 1 through 5 as desired, which is incredibly convenient.
