Today, the TAMASHII NATIONS collector's toy division of Japan's BANDAI SPIRITS Company announced that the latest product from the robot-themed action figure series 'ROBOT魂 ver. A.N.I.M.E.', the "Gundam NT-1 Prototype" from "Mobile Suit Gundam 0080: War in the Pocket", is scheduled for release in February 2023.
The RX-78NT-1 Gundam NT-1 Prototype first appeared as an original color scheme published by mechanical designer Mika Akitaka in "Model Graphix" magazine. This unit is set as a practical testbed built by the Augusta Research Institute to collect data after the Gundam NT-1 was sent to the SIDE6 colony. Its specifications are identical to the Gundam NT-1, but to obscure its identity, the unit was painted in a color scheme similar to the RGM-79 GM.
The "ROBOT魂 Gundam NT-1 Prototype ver. A.N.I.M.E." fundamentally adopts the specifications of the previously released Gundam NT-1, with its colors replaced by the prototype's characteristic orange-red scheme. The overall movable joints are meticulously designed, allowing for highly flexible articulation even when equipped with the full Chobham Armor. The legs feature an interlocking mechanism between the knee and calf armor for more natural movements. The Gatling guns concealed within both arms can be reproduced in their deployed state by swapping parts.
In terms of accessories, in addition to various interchangeable hands, a beam rifle, a dedicated bazooka, a shield, and a set of beam effects, the complete "Chobham Armor" set, previously sold separately, is also included. This allows the NT-1 Prototype to be equipped and recreate its imposing, heavily armored appearance.
