Japanese toy company RE-MENT, known for creating exquisite accessories and miniature models, yesterday (3rd) announced a new DesQ series blind box toy from the Japanese yokai manga "GeGeGe no Kitaro," titled "Kitaro's Desk Accessories" (tentative translation, ゲゲゲのデスクフィギュア)! It is scheduled for release in November 2022.
The manga "GeGeGe no Kitaro," originally serialized under the title "Hakaba Kitaro" starting in 1960, was created by the late Japanese manga artist Shigeru Mizuki. The story begins with Mizuki, an office worker employed at a blood bank. Due to encountering a "ghost blood" incident, he begins an investigation and meets a ghost couple at a temple. Mizuki promises the ghost couple to keep the secret of the ghost blood until their child is born. Several months later, the ghost descendant born from the grave is Kitaro. Kitaro was initially cared for by Mizuki, and after growing up, he embarked on a wandering life with "Medama-Oyaji" (Father Eye). In subsequent works, the story focuses on Kitaro resolving conflicts between humans and yokai.
This time, RE-MENT's "Kitaro's Desk Accessories" features a total of six designs. It brings together Kitaro, Neko Musume (Cat Girl), Nezumi Otoko (Rat Man), Nurikabe (Wall Yokai), Ittan Momen (Cotton Cloth Yokai), and Medama-Oyaji (Father Eye). While delicately shaping the characters and their scenes, these items also incorporate desk accessory functions for storing small items, such as pen holders, business card holders, stamp stands, and more. If you pick up Medama-Oyaji, who is taking a bath, you can place small clips and paperclips inside. This will definitely brighten your mood while working!
