Japanese model maker MEGAHOUSE today announced the latest product from the monster-themed model series 『ART WORKS MONSTERS』, "Blue-Eyes White Dragon ~Holographic Edition~" from "Yu-Gi-Oh!", scheduled for release in May 2023.
A Light attribute Dragon-Type monster card with 3000 ATK and 2500 DEF, Blue-Eyes White Dragon is capable of unleashing its ultimate attack "Burst Stream of Destruction." It also boasts various Fusion forms and subspecies cards such as "Blue-Eyes Ultimate Dragon," "Dragon Master Knight," "Blue-Eyes Spirit Dragon," and "Blue-Eyes Shining Dragon." It is Seto Kaiba's signature card, President Kaiba's "wife." In the original work, Blue-Eyes White Dragon is an ultra-rare card, too powerful, with only four copies in existence. Three of these were in Kaiba's possession, while the remaining one was displayed in Sugoroku Muto's card shop, later torn up by Kaiba.
The "ART WORKS MONSTERS Blue-Eyes White Dragon ~Holographic Edition~" maintains the same overall sculpt as the previously released regular version, with renowned sculptor Kenji Ando responsible for the prototype production. It captures a roaring pose with massive wings spread, standing 28 cm tall. The body surface is intricately sculpted with complex patterns to convey a sense of realism, and areas like the wing membranes and claws are made with transparent materials to express a translucent effect.
This version features paint colors reminiscent of a Holographic Rare card. The entire body is coated with various blue-gray metallic paints to replicate the shiny, reflective texture of the card illustration. Detailed grooves are rendered in black to create shadows, making the sculpt more three-dimensional, and the crystal-shaped base at the bottom is replaced with a transparent blue hue. Overall, compared to the regular Blue-Eyes White Dragon, it shines with a beautiful luster while also adding a touch of ferocity.
