PLEX Corporation of Japan, in collaboration with X-PLUS Corporation, has announced the latest product from their popular soft vinyl figure series 'DefoReal (デフォリアル)', which blends intricate realistic details with adorable deformed proportions. The 'Legion Shonen RIC Limited Edition' from 'Gamera 2: Attack of Legion' is scheduled for release in November 2022.
Appearing in the 1996 film 'Gamera 2: Attack of Legion' as Gamera's formidable adversary, Legion is a 'silicon-based mechanical lifeform' that descended to Earth with a meteorite. Its appearance closely resembles terrestrial arthropods. Its carapace can reflect electromagnetic waves, and its joints utilize high-pressure oxygen for movement, possessing powerful reproductive capabilities. While individual organisms are typically 1 to 2 meters tall, the Queen Legion can reach an astonishing 160 meters in length. Its head features 10 sharp interference wave claws capable of emitting various electromagnetic waves, neutralizing Gamera's fireballs. Furthermore, it can spread its large horns on either side of its mouth to converge microwaves and unleash a powerful beam.
The 'DEFOREAL Legion' stands approximately 18.5cm tall, making it significantly larger than the 12cm Gamera (1996). Its arthropod-like form is rendered in a deformed, Q-version proportion, yet it maintains an incredibly realistic sculptural detail, recreating the rough texture of its carapace, the membranes at its joints, and its fur, showcasing Legion's immensely powerful and menacing appearance.
The limited edition, sold through X-PLUS's official 'Shonen RIC' channel, also includes a 'replaceable head part' that allows for the recreation of the iconic scene where its large horns spread to both sides, converging microwaves in preparation for firing its microwave cannon!
