Take this, my shovel attack! Japanese toy company Good Smile Company's best-selling "Nendoroid" (ねんどろいど) toy series will release a Nendoroid figure of "Shovel Knight," the protagonist from the independent 2D action game Shovel Knight! Scheduled for release in February 2023.
The game Shovel Knight (Shovel Knight: Shovel of Hope) is a 2D action game primarily featuring retro elements, developed by Yacht Club Games. It was first released in 2014 on platforms such as PC, 3DS, and Wii, and later ported to PS3, PS4, Switch, and MacOS. The game's style draws inspiration from numerous classic action games, including Super Mario, Castlevania, Mega Man, The Legend of Zelda: Link's Adventure, and Dark Souls, among other renowned titles.
Players primarily take on the role of the protagonist, Shovel Knight, a truly unique knight whose weapon is a shovel. Seemingly ordinary, this shovel boasts a multitude of uses: not only can it be used to attack enemies, but also for pole-vaulting, and even for digging up treasures. To rescue his beloved companion, Shield Knight, from the clutches of the Enchantress, he embarks on an adventurous journey to the Tower of Fate, shovel in hand.
This Nendoroid rendition of Shovel Knight brings his in-game appearance to life. The Nendoroid's proportions are perfectly suited for the already somewhat adorable Shovel Knight. His signature weapon, the shovel, is naturally an essential accessory, allowing for the recreation of various poses, including standing, walking, and jumping. Additional accessories include effect parts for his shovel attacks, as well as his favorite treasure chest, enabling fans to recreate his iconic treasure-digging moments from the game!
