Released by Bandai Toy Company's GASHAPON capsule toy division, the 'HG' series of capsule models, known for their exquisite sculpting and compact size, follows "Gamera I" with the second installment in the series, "HG Gamera II," based on the 1995 tokusatsu film 《Gamera 2: Attack of Legion》. There are four types in total, scheduled for release in August 2022.
The Japanese tokusatsu monster film 《Gamera 2: Attack of Legion》（ガメラ2 レギオン襲来）, produced by Daiei in 1996, is the second part of the Heisei "Gamera Trilogy." The story is set one year after the previous work, 《Gamera: Guardian of the Universe》, where the silicon-based lifeform Legion arrives on Earth with a meteorite that crashes near Lake Shikotsu. The Mother Legion gives birth to a vast number of Soldier Legions, attacking Sapporo City and putting Gamera into a fierce battle.
"HG Gamera II" features 4 types: Gamera 1996, Gamera 1996 Flight Form, and the enemy forces Soldier Legion and the flying Wing Legion. Within the capsule toy size, Gamera's carapace and Soldier Legion's arthropod details are meticulously sculpted, showcasing sharp eyes and menacing designs. In addition to transparent material for the wings, the two smaller Legion figures feature a gradient metallic purple finish, faithfully recreating their in-film texture!
