Japanese toy company Good Smile Company's best-selling "Nendoroid" (ねんどろいど) toy series is set to release a Nendoroid product of "Mami Nanami," one of the many female characters from the popular romance manga series "Rent-A-Girlfriend"! It is scheduled for release in May 2023.
"Rent-A-Girlfriend" (Japanese original title: 彼女、お借りします) is a work created by manga artist Reiji Miyajima, which began serialization in Japan's "Weekly Shōnen Magazine" in 2017. The first season of the anime began airing in July 2020, and the second season started in July 2022. The live-action drama adaptation also began airing on TV Asahi on July 3, 2022, with Ryusei Onishi playing the male protagonist Kazuya and Hiyori Sakurada playing the female protagonist Chizuru.
The story follows the protagonist, Kazuya Kinoshita, who, after a heartbreak, uses an online "rent-a-girlfriend" service. To his surprise, he is met by a stunningly beautiful girl—Chizuru Mizuhara—which leaves Kazuya utterly smitten. A series of coincidences then leads to numerous seemingly ambiguous interactions and connections between the two.
Mami Nanami is one of the four female characters in the original work. She is Kazuya's first girlfriend who broke up with him at the beginning of the story. While her appearance seems beautiful and graceful, she actually possesses a considerably dark side to her personality. After learning about the relationship between her ex-boyfriend Kazuya and Chizuru, she constantly schemes to expose their relationship to others and cause trouble, making her a very manipulative individual.
This Nendoroid of Mami Nanami faithfully recreates her appearance from the original work, featuring three interchangeable expressions: a standard face, a forced smile, and a dark, hollow-eyed "scheming" face. As for accessories, in addition to interchangeable hand parts, she comes with her frequently used bag, a mobile phone, and a text plate for when she posts on her alternate Twitter account, allowing fans to recreate scenes from the manga!
