Japan's UNION CREATIVE (ユニオンクリエイティブ株式会社), a company adept at producing various character figure products, is set to release a figure of the protagonist "Sakunahime" (サクナヒメ) from the popular 2020 game "Sakuna: Of Rice and Ruin". It is scheduled for release in June 2023.
Released in 2020, the action game "Sakuna: Of Rice and Ruin" (天穂のサクナヒメ), developed by independent studio EDELWEISS, combines the familiar action game genre with simulation elements of real-world rice farming and harvesting, requiring the application of actual agricultural knowledge. It has received widespread acclaim since its release, with sales exceeding one million units. Players take on the role of Princess Sakunahime, a powerful yet somewhat lazy harvest goddess. Due to her indolence, she causes a major mishap, resulting in all the offerings being burned. Along with several mortals, she is banished to the Isle of Demons, where she must cultivate rice to become self-sufficient, enhance her abilities, and defeat the demons on the island.
This PVC figure of Princess Sakunahime, produced by UNION CREATIVE, stands approximately 17.5 cm tall. Its appearance is based on the design from the game's cover art. Sakunahime is depicted wearing the hagoromo (celestial robe) left by her mother, giving a strong sense of dynamic movement. Her right hand holds a hoe, as if it were a weapon ready for attack. Every detail on her body has been meticulously recreated, including the rope knot at her waist, the cylindrical container, the straw sandals on her feet, as well as her gestures and facial expression, all brought to life with stunning realism.
