Japanese model manufacturer Kotobukiya's popular mecha girl themed plastic model kit series "Megami Device" today announced the latest product designed by illustrator Nidy-2D-, "Kousu Amaterasu Regalia (Light Armor Version)", scheduled for release in August 2023.
The Kousu (Imperial Priestess) series is conceptually the next-generation evolution of the Shura series, featuring a larger body with enhanced output, further boosted by the AUV frame integrated into its limbs. Following the release of Kousu Susanoo in 2022, its counterpart, Kousu Amaterasu, has finally been announced. Amaterasu is a direct descendant and enhanced model of Shura Archer and Tamamo-no-Mae, excelling in shooting and electronic warfare. While this Light Armor Version is not Amaterasu's complete form, it is equipped with the lightweight yet highly defensive armor "Kamigoromo" and the "Oumotsu" halo, which enhances precision shooting, multi-lock targeting, and electronic warfare capabilities, combining both combat performance and aesthetic beauty.
The "Megami Device Kousu Amaterasu Regalia (Light Armor Version)" utilizes the same new Machineca body as Susanoo, with its proportions re-adjusted by sculptor Masaki Apsy. The completed kit stands approximately 18 cm tall and features new head and chest parts, along with new molding colors, to faithfully recreate Amaterasu's alluring body. It includes 3 pre-painted face parts and multiple PVC molded hand parts for replacement, allowing for a wide range of natural poses thanks to the Machineca body's exceptional articulation.
In armed mode, each piece of equipment also uses new parts to thoroughly recreate the Light Armor Version's design, which combines combat performance with aesthetic beauty. It can be equipped with the lightweight armor "Kamigoromo," which incorporates numerous Shinto and Miko (shrine maiden) elements. The red cords on various parts are intricately sculpted, and the shoulder and skirt armor bases feature movable mechanisms, allowing them to swing with the main body's movements and reduce interference. The "Oumotsu" halo, made from clear yellow parts, can be attached to the head or the staff weapon, reproducing stances that enhance electronic warfare capabilities or shooting performance, respectively.
