The reference price is 27,500 JPY each, with pre-orders opening in August 2023 and an estimated release in February 2024!
The animated film "My Neighbor Totoro," directed by Hayao Miyazaki and released in 1988 by Studio Ghibli and Tokuma Shoten, is set in rural Japan during the Showa era. The Kusakabe family moves into an old house next to a forest, where the children encounter the forest guardians—Totoro, Chibi-Totoro, Catbus, and other mysterious creatures. Its fantastical story, adorable characters, and beautiful depiction of nature make it one of Master Hayao Miyazaki's most classic works.
In the original artwork for the "My Neighbor Totoro" movie poster, the girl standing next to Big Totoro is neither Satsuki nor Mei, but a twin-tailed girl who possesses characteristics of both. Later, due to director Hayao Miyazaki changing the setting, the original single protagonist was split into the two sisters, Satsuki and Mei. Therefore, the girl from the poster does not appear in the film, and merchandise featuring her is extremely rare. This "My Neighbor Totoro Theatrical Poster Art Light-Up Diorama" will amaze loyal fans, as it recreates the classic scene where she waits for her father to come home with an umbrella, only to unexpectedly encounter Totoro. The street lamp has built-in LED lighting, creating the atmosphere of that long wait.
In addition to the fluffy texture, the leaf on Totoro's head also features details of dripping raindrops. The back features a huge forest and the small shrine from the film, allowing for 360° enjoyment!
