The plastic model kit series 'MODEROID' from the Japanese brand MECHA SMILE has announced the latest product from 'Golion', the 'Golion', scheduled for release in May 2024.
The giant robot Golion, formed by the combination of five space mechanical lions, is the legendary robot from the Japanese anime 'Golion'. In the story, this mechanical being of unknown origin once rampaged across the universe in ancient times, invincible, even daring to challenge the Space Goddess. After being subdued, its body was separated into five mechanical lions and sealed away. Thousands of years later, as the Galra Empire launched invasions and massacres across numerous planets, Princess Fala, the sole survivor of the Kingdom of Arus, unsealed Golion to fight against them, entrusting it to five imprisoned Earth youths.
The 'MODEROID Golion' utilizes multi-colored molded parts and pre-painted parts to largely recreate the body colors of the five mechanical lions upon assembly. Each of the five lions features articulated joints and can be equipped with various sword-type weapons in their mouths.
The biggest highlight is that the five mechanical lions can fully transform and combine into the legendary guardian 'Golion' without needing to swap any parts. The Blue Lion and Yellow Lion, which form the legs, come with two different sized head parts that can be swapped to correspond to their lion form and Golion form. Golion's joints are also flexibly designed and can be equipped with weapons such as the Ten Kings Sword, Double Sword, and Spinning Laser Blade to recreate its cool battle poses from the show!
