Hong Kong's renowned collectible figure brand "threezero", under its action figure product line "FigZero", is scheduled to release a 1/6 scale articulated figure of "Destro", one of the villains from the classic American animated series "G.I. JOE", in the first quarter of 2024! The price will be HKD 1,180.
Seasoned collectors are undoubtedly familiar with "G.I. JOE". This franchise originated as 12-inch military action figures produced by American toy manufacturer Hasbro in 1964. Later, in 1982, the 3.75-inch "A Real American Hero" series was launched, complete with a backstory, establishing it as a sci-fi military product line featuring warring factions. An animated series followed in 1983, which was broadcast in Taiwan by CTV in 1986 under the name "A Real American Hero". Both the G.I. JOE team and Cobra had highly popular characters. Subsequently, a movie adaptation was released, known in Taiwan as "Special Forces". Furthermore, G.I. JOE-related internet memes also enjoyed a period of popularity.
In the original story, Destro is an arms dealer from a family of arms merchants. He operates covertly within the arms company "MARS", instigating wars to profit from weapon sales. This FigZero Destro figure by threezero is crafted in 1/6 scale, standing at 31 cm tall. It faithfully recreates Destro's original appearance, including his beryllium-made metal mask, his chest necklace, black bodysuit, and the thigh holster. Also included is his frequently carried weapon case, emblazoned with the "MARS" logo, which can store his equipment: two pistols, a rocket launcher arm attachment, and explosives. Additionally, three extra sets of interchangeable hand parts are provided.
