GOOD SMILE COMPANY of Japan has announced the latest product from their popular "Nendoroid" series, which boasts over a thousand different items: the "Nendoroid Sōta Munakata" articulated figure, based on the popular animated film "Suzume no Tojimari". It has a suggested retail price of 7,000 JPY and is scheduled for release in February 2024.
Written and directed by Makoto Shinkai, the Japanese animated film "Suzume no Tojimari" is the third film to involve disaster themes, following "Your Name." and "Weathering With You," collectively known as the "Makoto Shinkai Disaster Trilogy." The story draws inspiration from the phenomenon of once-bustling cities becoming deserted and silent due to the COVID-19 pandemic, combined with the Great East Japan Earthquake, to create "Disaster Doors" from which giant worms emerge, triggering major earthquakes. The protagonist, Suzume Iwato, accidentally intervenes in the mission of the Closer, Sōta Munakata, and their strange yet healing adventure begins.
The "Nendoroid Sōta Munakata" recreates the handsome young Sōta, who appears in the film even less than the chair, in adorable Q-version proportions. His long hair, long coat, boots, and the mole under his eye are all faithfully and charmingly reproduced~ It comes with two interchangeable face plates: a gentle smiling face and a serious face for when he's on a mission. Additionally, important accessories such as the cat "Daijin" and the "Closer's Key" are included. Pre-orders placed through the "GOODSMILE Online Shop" will also receive a special bonus: a "Main Visual Background Sheet" from the movie~
"Nendoroid Suzume Iwato" is also available for pre-order!
