Before acquiring this GUNDAM AGE-FX unit, I hadn't watched its anime version. Unbelievable, right? It's been out for over a decade, and I still haven't seen it? Yes! I truly haven't. Recently, the toy arrived, and before shooting, I usually watch the anime to understand the mobile suit's movements and so on. After checking some brief anime reviews online, I finally gained a better understanding of the AGE story. AGE itself is an epic story spanning three generations. Each of the three generations faces different circumstances, existing in various stages of the era, leading to entirely different worldviews. Among them, the story of the second generation is particularly moving, even leading to the production of a dedicated OVA.

Getting back to the main topic. Let's first discuss the Gundam's main body. When I bought it, I thought it would be pretty good. However, holding it in my hands, I discovered it was not just "good," but actually quite fun to play with. Here are the key points of the review:

1. Excellent Paintwork!

Having read many online reviews and summaries, it's clear that the quality of this toy is quite high, with no major issues. Indeed, as observed with my own unit, this holds true. The overall color scheme is appealing, and the number of markings is just right, without becoming "covered in tattoos." However, are there any "sad spots" (flaws)? Of course. In some inward-facing areas, sprue marks are clearly visible, and there are some glue stains on the face, which require some time to address.

2. Good Articulation

The shoulder joints this time are quite thoughtfully designed, offering a good range of motion both forward and backward, providing a varied experience when posing this toy. As for the head, waist, and legs, they all exhibit reasonable articulation. However, my unit has a "sad spot": the left elbow can only bend 90 degrees and cannot be further articulated, which is a bit regrettable and a rare issue in recent years.

3. Diverse Weaponry

Regarding the rifle, one can choose to hold it with one hand or both hands. The rifle itself can transform into a "high-output version." As for the two beam sabers, they primarily utilize effect parts placed on the elbows. That's right, this time the sabers cannot be held in hand; they are directly emitted from the elbows.

Additionally, the C-Funnels are also a key play feature. They can all be placed on crescent-shaped plastic strips and connected to a dedicated display stand. These funnels offer several display methods. Firstly, they can be combined to form a defensive posture, or arranged in a concentrated row like spikes. Of course, the funnels can also become offensive weapons, appearing to orbit around the mobile suit.

When handling the mobile suit, it's important to be careful when inserting each funnel into the unit, paying attention to both force and angle, otherwise, they might accidentally break. When posing it on a stand, also ensure the mobile suit doesn't suddenly fall, as this could also damage the funnels.

4. Excellent Core Fighter!

The backpack can be detached from the main body, and it also comes with a nose cone, allowing players to attach it to the mobile suit to display its Core Fighter state. Although there isn't much room for extensive play, this arrangement is quite interesting.

Conclusion:

This toy indeed brought a pleasant surprise; it's excellent! Just looking at its design, it feels a bit like the 00 Qan[T]. Thanks to this play experience, I was able to learn about the AGE story, which is indeed interesting. The story is good, but the art style leans towards children, and the mobile suits also have some childlike elements, which makes the originally adult-oriented story direction a bit childish, which is a slight pity. If the story direction and art style were more aligned, I believe it would be even better!
