Bandai Spirits, a Japanese toy company, known for its affordable and extensive "Ultraman Monster Series (ウルトラ怪獣シリーズ)" lineup, recently announced a new product from "Ultraman Arc", item number 221: the "YouPi The Robot" (ユピーザロボット) soft vinyl toy! It is scheduled for release on August 31, 2024, with a suggested retail price of 770 JPY (tax included).
Since K-DAY (Kaiju Day) 16 years ago, when monsters simultaneously appeared across the globe, kaiju disasters have become a part of daily life. In Japan, in addition to the "Earth Defense Force" which subdues monsters with military might, there is also "SKIP", the Scientific Investigation Institute for Kaiju Disaster Prevention, dedicated to preventing and mitigating kaiju disasters. The protagonist of this series, "Yuma Hishise", is a new member of SKIP with extensive knowledge of monsters. While SKIP was investigating "Utsu", a cosmic parasitic organism found in a monster's horn, they were suddenly attacked by a monster. In the nick of time, Yuma connected with "Lution (ルティオン)", a messenger of light from a distant galaxy, transforming into a mysterious giant who protects people!
The star of this release, "YouPi", is an AI robot within the SKIP organization. Standing 2 cm tall, it can not only engage in normal conversation, answer calls, and handle chores like cleaning, but its coolest feature is its separation capability! The spherical drone located in its head is "You", which assists in tracking monsters and transmitting real-time footage back to headquarters. After You separates, the torso, "Pi", fills in the separated head portion and lights up its chest as eyes, even sticking out its tongue – super cute! This Ultraman Monster Series YouPi faithfully recreates its rounded lines and futuristic design, though it appears to lack the separation mechanism. However, we believe that separate "You" and "Pi" figures will be available soon.
