The robot-themed action figure series "ROBOT魂 ver. A.N.I.M.E.", released by TAMASHII NATIONS, the collector's toy division of Japan's BANDAI SPIRITS Company, today officially unveiled the full details of its latest product from "Mobile Suit Zeta Gundam", the "GM Sniper Custom (Jaburo Defense Force Specification)", scheduled for release in January 2025.
During the One Year War, to counter the mass-produced Zeon mobile suit "Zaku II", the Earth Federation Forces urgently mass-produced the "RGM-79 GM (Early Production Type)", a mass-produced version of the RX-78 Gundam. However, to prioritize cost-effectiveness, it was made with inferior materials and its performance and mechanisms were greatly simplified. Some ace pilots were dissatisfied with the GM's performance and demanded improvements, leading to the limited modification of the "RGM-79SC GM Sniper Custom" after the Battle of Solomon. This model not only possessed performance comparable to the RX-78 Gundam series but was also equipped with a dedicated high-output beam rifle, capable of performing sniping and escort missions. By the era of "Zeta Gundam", this model was still in service after upgrades to its propulsion system and beam weapons. In the series, a Jaburo Defense Force specification unit was deployed to intercept AEUG's airborne MS units.
The "ROBOT魂 GM Sniper Custom (Jaburo Defense Force Specification) ver. A.N.I.M.E." is a modification of the previously released regular version, featuring a sleek and cool design faithful to the anime's setting art, and reproduced in new colors to represent the Jaburo Defense Force Specification. The entire figure includes a neck joint that allows for significant backward tilt, articulated axes built into the chest and shoulders, double-jointed knees, an openable/closable head visor, and other designs, enabling natural shooting poses when using the sniper rifle.
Weapon accessories include the "L-3 Beam Sniper Rifle", "Beam Spray Gun", "Twin Beam Spray Gun", "Folding Beam Pistol", "Hyper Bazooka", and "Shield". The Beam Sniper Rifle can be converted into a standard beam rifle by swapping parts. Also included are various interchangeable hand parts, beam firing effects, beam saber effects, and thruster jet effects, allowing for even more immersive battle poses!
