"Deadpool & Wolverine": Disney's Love Letter to Wolverine

#Disney's Love Letter to Wolverine

#Or Perhaps a Retirement Rejection Letter

#Plot Summary

The movie's plot is just *whoosh-bang, whoosh-bang, boom-pow*... Alright, that's not really important. Oh, they're fighting, cool! A gag here, some music there, is it moving? Wait a minute? Is it that cheap? Is that okay? Hmm, actually, don't worry too much about it... It's Deadpool, after all... (Professional plot explanations are for script-reading YouTubers, finding Easter eggs is for Google-savvy YouTubers; none of that here XD

#Are the X-Men Here?

If you haven't seen the Wolverine series, especially "Logan," then you'll likely have difficulty understanding this film. If you like Wolverine, you'll enjoy it, though you might also find reasons to dislike it. It represents the potential for Wolverine and the X-Men to reboot under Disney, perhaps even a collaborative universe between the Avengers and X-Men, offering a new lease on life for "Avengers 5." Would you want Wolverine to wreak havoc in the Avengers' world? (But you might also resent it for potentially undermining "Logan's" perfect ending.)

Compared to the previous two "Deadpool" films, this movie is significantly richer due to its character dynamics. While I'm not personally a fan of Deadpool's constant chatter, some audience members in the cinema did laugh periodically, indicating that its humor is quite frequency-dependent. This is likely a film that will confuse those who rarely watch superhero movies, as many of the gags will be lost on them... such as the X-Men's previous rights being with Fox before Disney acquired them...

The "Jin Xiaodao" reference? The Chinese translator must be quite senior. For those unfamiliar, this refers to a Taiwanese political figure who was closely associated with the Taiwanese president about a decade ago (Taiwanese translations are genuinely poor, old-fashioned, and self-important).

Superhero tropes? The tight suits must be tight to make the butt look perky~ Taking off clothes and showing off muscles is absolutely essential~ It's a huge pity Spider-Man isn't present... The Deadpool Corps makes a brief cameo... A few dialogues felt a bit dull... The TVA executives lacked charisma; one wishes they had cast more engaging actors. It would have been fantastic if a well-known character from the "Loki" series had appeared...

My post-viewing thoughts are...

X-23 Laura is so cute, so cute, so cute... Bring her back~ Even though the trailer already spoiled Laura's appearance, seeing her still felt incredibly good, but her screentime was truly limited, which is a bit of a shame~

As for Professor X's sister, I'm very eager to see her go head-to-head with Professor X James McAvoy. Professor X's sister possesses... well, a special "89-mei" charm... It's truly captivating...

Regarding the grand Marvel integration of X-Men and Avengers, where are the Avengers in this film? The original "Avengers 5" members didn't appear at all, nor did the second-generation Avengers? Only Ant-Man's suit, a roadside magician's ring... I believe Disney is still quite conservative about this. For Marvel fans who are already incredibly moved, hold on... Perhaps it still depends on this film's box office performance...

Recommended prior viewing?

Loki - Time Variance Authority

Logan - Important

Ant-Man - Not necessary

Others - It's best to have some understanding of basic Marvel characters...

So, was Deadpool's secret mission to bring the X-Men's strongest character, Wolverine, to Disney to save the declining Marvel Cinematic Universe box office?
