Max Factory, a Japanese model manufacturer, has today announced the latest products from its highly popular and diverse assembly model brand 'PLAMAX', featuring "1/72 VF-19 Kai Fire Valkyrie (Basara Nekki's Machine)" and "MF-89 minimum factory Basara Nekki" from Macross 7, with releases scheduled for January and February 2025, respectively.
The "VF-19 Kai Fire Valkyrie" appearing in Macross 7 is a special experimental unit modified from the "YF-19 Excalibur" developed by Shinsei Industry as part of the New U.N. Spacy's "Project Super Nova". Under the top-secret "Sound Force Project", it was piloted by Basara Nekki, the lead vocalist of the band FIRE BOMBER, to test the Sound Energy System. The aircraft is equipped only with defensive wing-mounted laser cannons and leg micro-missile pods; its primary weapon is the "song" emitted from its massive speakers, and it can even fire special speaker warheads to force opponents to listen to music.
The "PLAMAX 1/72 VF-19 Kai Fire Valkyrie (Basara Nekki's Machine)" utilizes multi-colored molded parts to assemble into a BATTROID form approximately 23 cm tall. It features flexible articulated joints, allowing for dynamic combat poses with its GUNPOD. Furthermore, by swapping parts, you can recreate the deployed state of the shoulder-mounted speakers, the open/closed state of the face mask, and the deployed missile pods on both sides of the calves. The set also includes a mini-figure of "Basara Nekki" in the same scale.
If the 1/72 scale Basara is too small or difficult to paint, PLAMAX has also simultaneously announced the "minimum factory 1/20 Basara Nekki", standing approximately 9 cm tall. This kit is assembled from multi-colored parts and includes waterslide decals for the eyes. After painting, you can complete a cool pose of Basara Nekki playing his electric guitar!
