The world-renowned Hong Kong toy brand Hot Toys today (23rd) announced its latest product from the sci-fi epic "The Empire Strikes Back": the "Chewbacca with Disassembled C-3PO" 1/6th scale collectible figure! It is expected to ship from Q3 to Q4 2025, with a suggested retail price of HKD 2,730.
In the story of "The Empire Strikes Back," Han Solo, Chewbacca, Princess Leia, and C-3PO arrive at Cloud City Bespin. Han and Chewie get a moment to rest, and Princess Leia even changes into a beautiful gown. However, the protocol droid C-3PO isn't so lucky; he is brutally disassembled and thrown into a scrap yard, destined for destruction... Fortunately, Chewbacca discovers him at the last minute. With no time to find someone to repair him, and Han's group betrayed by their old friend, the current administrator of Cloud City, Lando Calrissian, Chewbacca simply carries the scattered pieces of C-3PO on his back, forming an iconic look.
This latest three-dimensional rendition of Chewbacca in the MMS series stands approximately 36 cm tall and features 30 points of articulation, faithfully recreating the furry body of the Wookiee warrior. The newly developed head sculpt utilizes a rooted wool hair technique and incorporates movable eyes and an articulated jaw, not only achieving a more realistic and natural visual effect but also allowing for a variety of facial expressions. The brown fur on his body also meticulously presents varying shades and a fluffy texture. Paired with a leather-textured bandolier with a pouch, the overall look is highly layered. Accessories include his bowcaster, an E-11 blaster rifle, handcuffs to recreate the scene where Chewbacca is captured by Imperial Stormtroopers, multiple interchangeable hands, and a major highlight: the disassembled C-3PO.
Making its debut in the Hot Toys product lineup in its disassembled form, C-3PO, despite his tragic appearance, fully recreates the exposed wires, violently pulled-apart look, and rust weathering throughout, as if truly salvaged from a scrap heap. Yet, his golden shell is finished with an electroplated metallic paint application, giving him an extremely high-quality look! Furthermore, C-3PO can be enclosed in a black net bag, and the LED located in his head can be illuminated, making for a super interesting display.
