【CCSTOYS MORTAL MIND】Survival for 0.82 Seconds! The Ultimate EVA, Neon Genesis Evangelion EVA Final Unit Unboxing

After returning home from a business trip over the weekend, I saw three large boxes. When my wife asked about them, I didn't know how to answer because I had no idea what they were myself. Upon closer inspection, I realized they were three boxes from CCSTOYS. Besides the Cybaster that had been sent for repairs and finally returned after half a year, the other two boxes contained the new MORTAL MIND Shin Getter and this EVA Final Unit. Today, I'll be unboxing this Final Unit to share with all of you.

Extreme armor articulation, piercing berserk eyes, dazzling Wings of Light that put Bandai's to shame, and not a single paint flaw to be found. Light it up and the berserk mode activates. This is the driving force that has kept me following MORTAL MIND, as they have never disappointed me (with the exception of a defective unit).

This EVA Final Unit comes from the novel "EVANGELION ANIMA." The author and mecha designer for the novel is Ikuto Yamashita. Ikuto Yamashita has been the mecha designer for Evangelion since the original TV series. Because of this, the design of the Final Unit can be considered to have a pure lineage, as the same person handled the mecha designs for both the TV series and the novel. Currently, the only other EVA Final Unit on the market is a figure produced by Kaiyodo. The MORTAL MIND version I'm unboxing today is the only true die-cast alloy toy of it available on the market.

I have to say, the accuracy of this Final Unit from MORTAL MIND is quite high. While the color tone differs slightly from the source material, the deviation isn't drastic and falls within an acceptable range, making it a faithful recreation. Below is the unboxing for everyone to see.

▼The outer box continues CCSTOYS' consistent style of simple, understated elegance. A cardboard box featuring line art of the upper body.

▼The side features the name 'Final Unit'.

▼The other side has the importer's information.

▼This time, the light-up effects only require two LR41 batteries. In Taiwan, the batteries must be purchased separately, whereas they seem to be included from the manufacturer in mainland China. The manufacturing date is in the bottom left corner. I see the number 2352; I wonder if this means it's the 2352nd box.

▼The back of the outer box, which can also be considered the bottom.

▼Upon opening the cardboard box, the first thing you see is a full-color art print.

▼EVA Final Unit

▼As with past products, lifting the cover reveals a unique phrase.

▼Gold foil stamping.

▼As is tradition, the back of the art print features a beautiful pencil sketch.

▼A simple instruction manual.

▼The four Wings of Light, which have a dazzling iridescent effect under illumination.

▼This Final Unit has very few parts. Compared to Gunbuster, the box is also much smaller. The main components are arranged in just three layers: besides the Wings of Light on top, there are the two trays of parts shown in the picture below.

▼The weight of the main body, without the head and accessories attached, is approximately 468.9 grams. Most of the weight comes from the metal joints.

▼The main body appears. Its physique looks quite slender, with the main color scheme leaning towards a dark purple. Under light, every part has a very clear reflection. The paint application is well-controlled, with no signs of excess glue.

▼The triangle in the center of the chest is the Final Unit's heart, painted in a gunmetal color. Compared to the main metallic hue, a darker shade is used to create a distinct contrast between the primary color and the other parts.

▼The elbows use metal joints. The joint tightness is acceptable for now, but I feel that loosening over time is probably unavoidable. I could already feel them getting a bit loose just during the photo shoot in the light box.

▼The chest design is my favorite part; it has an indescribable uniqueness. A triangular protrusion is embedded in an orange base, while the chest armor has been moved to the left and right sides. This open armor structure comes from the Super Evangelion. That protruding triangle in the middle is the EVA's heart, and this heart belongs to Shinji Ikari. The two armor plates on the sides also have a name: Quantum Wave Mirrors. On the inner side of the armor, MORTAL MIND has sculpted many fine pipes surrounding the central heart, which makes the entire Final Unit look more biological.

▼The orange parts can be imagined as muscles, and paired with the silver and purple armor, they give the legs a more three-dimensional look.

▼The original bright orange on the shoulders is combined with a metallic orange to create a different paint texture.

▼The torso section features the classic multi-segmented structure of an EVA. Because the Final Unit has very little restraint armor, a large portion of the underlying body is exposed at the waist. The orange muscle lines all over its body give the Final Unit a very athletic and well-defined physique.

▼The silver spine on the back, combined with different color blocks, looks beautiful.

▼The waist and abdomen have three articulated segments, each one movable.

▼The knees and ankles are both metal parts.

▼Assembling it with the head.

▼Compared to the novel's design, the head is noticeably smaller. In the novel, the head is slightly wider and larger.

▼The mouth can be opened. When opened, you can clearly see the internal details, which even include white teeth. MORTAL MIND paid attention to even this small detail.

▼The hands are swappable. They use ball joints, which are easy to use, remove, and assemble. This time, no articulated hands are included; they are all fixed-pose hands. Besides the default fists, there are open-palm hands (pictured below) and weapon-holding hands.

▼Assembled and with the chest light effect turned on. The light has two modes: steady-on and breathing.

▼The piercing eyes combined with the red light create a completely menacing aura.

▼Opening its mouth to reveal the white teeth makes it look even more ferocious.

▼Here are three shots from different angles.

▼For a humanoid weapon, a kneeling pose is a must.

▼Because the front part of the foot is independently articulated, the kneeling pose looks more natural.

▼Finally, a close-up shot.

That concludes the unboxing of the main figure. As for the armaments, I'll introduce them directly using the studio photos, as I forgot to take individual shots. The introduction to the weapons will be missing the Pallet Rifle because I also forgot to photograph it. If you want to see the Pallet Rifle, you can watch the unboxing video, where it is discussed.

▼Progressive Knife. This can be considered standard equipment for an EVA. It comes with a sheath, and upon drawing it, you can see the blade's beautiful, full metallic paint job. There is text printed on the side of the blade which is also very clear. This Progressive Knife can be used to slice through an A.T. Field.

▼A sword with a very cool name, the Magoroku Exterminate Sword. The sheath itself has a hollowed-out design, and the blade features a metallic paint finish. From the hilt to the tip, it measures about 24cm. The blade has rich color separation, and the green paint accent on the hilt is also perfectly applied.

▼A sword taller than the main body itself, named the Bizen Osafune. This weapon is the Final Unit's most iconic piece of equipment, with a total length of about 33cm. Needless to say, the paint quality can only be described as "outstanding." The most unique feature is the three independent, movable rings on the grip.

▼Spear of Lucretius. This spear was created by the protagonist, Shinji Ikari, himself while trapped in magma. The spear has a black-purple paint job with metallic flakes mixed in, giving the entire weapon a brilliant reflective effect under light. This spear is very long, about 37cm in total. Except for this spear, all other weapons can be mounted on the Final Unit's body.
