Following the recent release of "GX-111 Great Mazinger - KAKUMEI SHINKA-," the highly popular die-cast toy brand "Chogokin Damashii," issued by TAMASHII NATIONS, the collectors' toy division of Japan's BANDAI SPIRITS Company, has once again announced its latest product from "Great Mazinger" (グレートマジンガー): "GX-114 Marquis Janus & GX-12R Venus A"! It is scheduled for release in February 2025, with a suggested retail price of 23,000 JPY.
This new set features the renewed "Venus A" and the first-ever Chogokin Damashii three-dimensional rendition of "Marquis Janus," an intelligence officer of the evil Mycenae Empire. Marquis Janus, who became the commander of the Volcanic Island Base in TV anime episode 23, excels at transformation and hypnosis, possessing absolute loyalty to the intelligence chief. This 17 cm tall Marquis Janus figure meticulously recreates his eerie, purple-themed appearance, including his exaggerated head sculpt, sharp teeth inside his mouth, long slender fingernails, and a pink skirt at his waist made from soft material to significantly reduce interference with articulation!
Beyond his striking mechanical appearance, Marquis Janus's chest is another major highlight. His left chest, featuring a transparent effect, reveals the beautiful human form of Marquis Janus, as drawn by Japanese robot illustrator Kazuhiro Ochi. His right chest can be used to launch missiles, recreating Marquis Janus's secret weapon!
Next up is the renewed Venus A, making its return. This robot, piloted by Jun Hono (炎ジュン), boasts graceful body lines. In addition to serving as Great Mazinger and Tetsuya Tsurugi's best combat partner for support, Venus A can also fight independently and achieve great feats. Its classic move of launching two chest missiles (Photon Power Missiles / 光子力ミサイル) from its chest can, of course, be recreated! When equipped with the Venus Scrambler (ビューナススクランダー), her hair can also be lifted upwards, showcasing a dynamic flying pose.
Furthermore, this Venus A's command vehicle (Queen Star / クインスター) not only features a new sculpt but also allows Jun Hono to be seen inside through its translucent blue windshield. The mechanism for docking into Venus A's rear head recess is, of course, fully reproduced.
It is worth noting that this set is the third female robot duo combination, following "GX-08R Aphrodite A vs GX-09R Minerva X" and "GX-108 Rhine X1 & GX-11R Aphrodite A2."
