BANDAI SPIRITS Hobby Division in Japan has officially announced today the latest product from the theatrical anime film Mobile Suit Gundam SEED FREEDOM, the "HG 1/144 Z'Gok (SEED FREEDOM Ver.)", part of the highly diverse 1/144 scale Gunpla 'HG (High Grade)' series, scheduled for release in February 2025.
The Z'Gok appearing in the film, while bearing a resemblance to the original Gundam version, is actually the ZGMF-X191M2 Infinite Justice Gundam Type-II in disguise. This mobile suit is an improved version of Athrun's previous machine, the "Infinite Justice Gundam", utilizing the latest technology from Morgenroete. It features an all-around cockpit, VPS armor, and significantly revamped exterior armor details, with a large beam horn added to its head for surprise attacks. Its backpack has been replaced with the new "M2X32E VOLANTES" propulsion unit, which grants ultra-high-speed combat capabilities through its new foldable wings, whose leading edges can also deploy beam blades. However, since this machine uses a nuclear power engine, which violates the Junius Treaty, it must operate discreetly, disguised as a Z'Gok.
The "HG 1/144 Z'Gok (SEED FREEDOM Ver.)" is produced with Bandai's latest color separation and part division technology, utilizing molded part colors to reproduce the mobile suit's colors as accurately as possible. It also features the "SEED Action System" to recreate classic poses from the Gundam SEED series, allowing for dynamic combat stances from the film through its bellows-structured arms and legs, and highly articulated abdominal joints.
Through interchangeable parts, the Z'Gok can recreate its red state when its arm claws activate heat, as well as the appearance of its internal Gundam face revealed when its head armor is damaged. Accessories also include the new "M2X32E VOLANTES" propulsion backpack, identical to that of the Infinite Justice Gundam Type-II, which can be fitted with beam effects to reproduce the beam blades deployed from its wings.
Regarding the most anticipated internal mechanism, currently, only the Z'Gok's upper body internal frame is confirmed to be shaped like the "Infinite Justice Gundam Type-II", and it can directly use the upper body parts from the separately sold "HG 1/144 Infinite Justice Gundam Type-II". A direct transformation into Gundam mode by 'bursting' the armor is not possible.
