To commemorate the "2025 World Expo" held in Osaka, Japan, Bandai Spirits will release two toys in September 2024 featuring the Expo's official mascot, "Myaku-Myaku": a soft vinyl toy from the MOVIE MONSTER Series (ムービーモンスターシリーズ) and the stress-relief item Endless Edamame (∞エダマメ)!
Designed by Japanese designer Kohei Yamashita, active in graphic and character design, the EXPO 2025 mascot "Myaku-Myaku" is a friendly but somewhat clumsy mysterious creature born from a small spring in Kansai. Its true form is unknown; the red parts of its body are cells that divide and multiply, while the blue parts are pure water that can transform into various forms. Myaku-Myaku is currently on a journey to find its ideal self and has temporarily taken on a humanoid form. Myaku-Myaku not only echoes Osaka's characteristic as a city of water but also showcases a rich variety of cute appearances due to its lack of a fixed form.
EXPO2025 Commemorative Movie Monster Series Myaku-Myaku
Suggested Retail Price: 2,640 yen (tax included), Product Specifications: Approximately 16.5 cm tall, Estimated Release Date: September 7, 2024
The Myaku-Myaku soft vinyl figure from the MOVIE MONSTER Series is rendered in 3D at a substantial 16.5 cm! It faithfully recreates Myaku-Myaku's energetic smile, the multiple eyes on its red cells, and the meticulously sculpted water droplet-like shapes at its elbows, as if about to drip. Turning it around, you can even spot a small eye on its backside – super cute! With its vibrant, eye-catching colors and very avant-garde appearance, it's sure to be a striking display piece wherever it's placed.
▼ The side view also fully captures Myaku-Myaku's curved silhouette.
Myaku-Myaku ∞Edamame
Suggested Retail Price: 1,540 yen (tax included), Product Specifications: Approximately 16.5 cm tall, Estimated Release Date: September 7, 2024
Next up is Myaku-Myaku materialized as the popular stress-relief toy, Endless Edamame! Not only are the edamame body and tag designed in the mascot's primary blue and red colors, but the biggest selling point is definitely the design where Myaku-Myaku's eyes pop out when squeezed. And there are three eyes waiting for you to press! Stress-relieving? The editor personally finds it quite bizarre! However, it is indeed a very interesting product that also echoes Myaku-Myaku's character setting of being able to transform into various forms – definitely a must-buy.
