Chinese model kit maker SOSKILL has revealed its latest release from the fan-favorite hot-blooded anime "Gurren Lagann": the "Giga Hundred-Drill Break Gurren Lagann" chibi-style super-articulated model kit. Priced at 129 yuan, the kit is scheduled for release in Q4 2026.
Created by GAINAX, Aniplex, and Konami, the 27-episode anime series "Gurren Lagann" follows a young digger named Simon, whose discovery of the destined mecha Lagann takes him on a journey from deep underground to the farthest reaches of space. Its unforgettable mecha designs, larger-than-life characters, and escalating story have cemented it as one of the defining hot-blooded robot anime of the Heisei era. The featured Gurren Lagann is formed when Kamina’s Gurren combines with Simon’s Lagann. Powered by Spiral Power, it can unleash drills from across its body, while its signature finishing move, the Giga Drill Break, pierces enemies with a massive drill.
The combined "Giga Hundred-Drill Break Gurren Lagann" chibi-style super-articulated model kit stands approximately 12 cm tall and recreates the mecha’s iconic look in roughly three-head-tall proportions. Lagann and Gurren can separate, with a fully transforming design that reproduces both their individual and combined configurations. Lagann comes with an interchangeable gritted-teeth face, while small drills can be attached to its forehead and hands. A large drill can also be mounted underneath to recreate the moment just before combination. On Gurren, the drill sockets on the legs and toes can be concealed through transformation, and the sunglasses on its face are removable. Folding and expanding mechanisms in the shoulder armor and hip sections reproduce the changes seen after combination, while four pairs of interchangeable hands provide plenty of posing options.
In its combined Gurren Lagann form, the model features mounting points across its body for the included drills. The drill parts come in solid white and translucent green, with 30 small drills, two medium drills, two large drills, and two head drills in each color. Simon’s Core Drill is also included, complete with an LED unit that recreates its signature green glow. Using the connector parts, the Core Drill can be mounted to the arm to recreate the legendary Giga Drill Break. The set also includes the flight unit acquired during the Battle of Teppelin, with wings that can fold away for storage. As a special bonus, the kit comes with a life-size Gurren Lagann sunglasses shuriken.
