Japan's Kotobukiya (KOTOBUKIYA) toy company, under its "Mega Man X" model kit series, has announced the latest KOTOBUKIYA SHOP exclusive product: the "BLACK ZERO" 1/12 scale model kit, with a suggested retail price of 9,020 JPY, scheduled for release in February 2025!
The highly popular "Zero" from the "Mega Man" series is characterized in the game's lore by his exceptional judgment, calm demeanor, and formidable combat abilities, classifying him as a special A-class Maverick Hunter. First appearing in "X2," Black Zero is a replica of Zero created by Sigma, making his appearance when X successfully recovers all of Zero's parts. As a counterfeit, he possesses no combat capabilities. However, his cool, all-black design captivated many players, and he frequently appears in subsequent titles as a hidden or enhanced form activated by specific commands.
The "Mega Man X BLACK ZERO" 1/12 scale model kit faithfully recreates the in-game design using CAD modeling, with precise joints providing a wide range of articulation to reproduce various actions from the game! The cool armor colors are reproduced with multi-color molded parts. In addition to the blue part on the forehead, clear red parts are also included, allowing for the recreation of the replica Zero that appeared in "Mega Man X2"!
It comes with three interchangeable face parts: a normal face, a gritting teeth face, and a smiling face, along with four types of interchangeable hand parts. Furthermore, it includes four different blade parts for the "ZERO Saber (Z-Saber)" representing various slashing states. When combined with the optional Milight 316 series, LED light effects can be used to make the clear molded blades emit a powerful glow! Interchangeable short hair parts further expand the range of motion. Additionally, new interchangeable neck and waist parts are included, allowing for more natural posing in a dashing stance. Paired with the incredibly powerful Rakuhouha effect part, it recreates the classic scene of unleashing this special move, exuding an impressive presence! The box art also features a brand-new illustration by Keisuke Mizuno, character designer for the "Mega Man X" series.
