TAKARA TOMY's toy brand T-ARTS, following the 2019 "NTT East Public Telephone Gashapon Collection" and the 2020 "NTT East NTT West Public Telephone Gashapon Collection Supplemental Edition", is set to release its latest work this September: "NTT East NTT West Public Telephone Gashapon Collection Extra Edition"! The suggested retail price is 300 Japanese Yen per capsule, with a total of 6 styles to collect.
The Japanese telecommunications company "Nippon Telegraph and Telephone (NTT)", established in 1985, has its subsidiary NTT East serving areas from Hokkaido down to Nagano, Yamanashi, and Kanagawa. NTT West, on the other hand, covers areas starting from Toyama, Gifu, Aichi, and Shizuoka, extending south to Kagoshima and Okinawa. This series of public telephone gashapon collections, supervised by NTT East and NTT West and produced in cooperation with the NTT Technical History Museum, recreates the intricate mechanisms of the telephones in approximately 5 cm scale. These details include the coin slot, phone card slot, a removable receiver, pressable number buttons, a coin return slot, English and Japanese lettering, and more. With the addition of stickers, the overall detail is quite exquisite.
This Extra Edition once again features two classic green analog public telephone models: MC-3P and MC-D8, as well as the black digital public telephone DMC-7. Other styles include even older nostalgic models, such as the large pink rotary telephone that was put into use in Showa 47 (1972), the yellow push-button public telephone from Showa 57 (1982), and the 100-yen pink telephone from Showa 60 (1985). The exquisite reproduction of these designs combined with their mini size is truly super cute! After bringing them home, you can not only play with them while reminiscing about past public telephone calls, but they also look great just displayed. Of course, pairing them with other toys to create interesting scenes is also perfectly possible.
