The popular action figure series "S.H.Figuarts", released by TAMASHII NATIONS, the collector's toy division of Japan's BANDAI SPIRITS Company, has announced the confirmed commercialization of the protagonist "Gintoki Sakata" from the popular manga "Gintama". It is scheduled for release in May 2025. The prototype will be unveiled for the first time at "TAMASHII NATION 2024" held this month.
Gintoki Sakata, who runs the "Yorozuya", is an old man who usually has dead fish eyes and a lazy, unmotivated personality. Although serialized in "Weekly Shonen Jump", he completely lacks the demeanor of a shonen manga protagonist. However, during the Joui War, he was a legendary figure with extremely high swordsmanship skills, known as the "White Yaksha". He could contend with the strongest mercenary race, the "Yato", simply by using a wooden sword purchased online. His samurai spirit is also second to none; he will always risk his life to fight for his comrades and promises.
Detailed product information for "S.H.Figuarts Gintoki Sakata" has not yet been announced. However, from the released preview images, it can be seen that the product faithfully reproduces his characteristic silver curly hair, costume colors, and patterns through precise sculpting, color application, and printing. The expression parts include at least two types: a cool normal face and a mischievous-looking smirking face. It also comes with the familiar "Lake Toya" wooden sword and replacement parts to recreate his left arm placed inside his kimono.
