BANDAI’s Tamagotchi virtual pet brand is teaming up with Netflix’s hit series "Stranger Things" for the Original Tamagotchi Stranger Things virtual pet. Inspired by the show’s terrifying alternate dimension, the device turns the classic virtual pet experience on its head with an upside-down LCD screen. Even routine Tamagotchi care will require players to adjust to life in the Upside Down. Priced at 3,300 yen including tax, the collaboration is scheduled for release on February 27, 2027.
This collaborative virtual pet features a translucent black shell decorated with vine-like patterns inspired by the Upside Down. A jagged red screen border and three red buttons complete the eerie design, while the iconic red Stranger Things logo appears above the display. Its biggest twist is the upside-down LCD screen, which reflects the alternate dimension that mirrors the real world in the series. The device also comes with a flip-open translucent black protective case featuring the Tamagotchi and Stranger Things collaboration logo. An included metal ball chain makes it easy to attach to a bag or carry on the go.
Despite its creepy Stranger Things-inspired design, the device runs the original Tamagotchi GEN1 programming. Players can feed their pet, clean up its waste, and treat illnesses, as well as handle discipline and play mini-games. Different care choices will determine which character the Tamagotchi grows into. However, characters from "Stranger Things" are not available to raise. Instead, the familiar virtual pets now inhabit an inverted screen world, adding a wonderfully strange twist to the daily Tamagotchi routine.
