Game of Thrones Universe Expanding? George R.R. Martin Hints at Original Cast's Return

While Warner Bros. Discovery has yet to release more information on plans to expand the "Game of Thrones" world to the big screen, original author George R.R. Martin recently seemed to hint on his blog that original cast members might be returning to participate in the expanding universe.

In a blog post titled "London Towne," Martin shared his travel experiences and photos from London, UK, and also mentioned having a meal with Maisie Williams, who played Arya Stark. During their meeting, they apparently discussed a topic that Martin was "not at liberty to talk about."

In the post, he wrote: "We (including my editor) had pizza and pasta with Maisie Williams, and we talked about… well, best not to say too much, lest I get in trouble, though it might be very interesting."

While it's unconfirmed if this means Williams will reprise her role as Arya Stark in a future "Game of Thrones" story, it's worth noting that beyond earlier rumors of Warner Bros. eyeing a film adaptation, HBO CEO Casey Bloys has previously spoken about developing multiple "Game of Thrones" universe projects in collaboration with George R.R. Martin.

"He [Martin] is very important to me, to us. But planning a big project is like being in a marriage, and of course, managing a marriage isn't easy," Bloys said in a past interview with an overseas outlet. "Especially with Ryan Condal ('House of the Dragon' showrunner and writer) at the helm, you can expect to navigate and handle tense situations. Of course, I hope everyone gets along, but it's normal to encounter some challenges in the creative process."
