Following the tragic passing of Lance Reddick in 2023, who portrayed Zeus in the series adaptation of "Percy Jackson & the Olympians," fans have been speculating which actor would take over the crucial role for the upcoming second season. Now, the official announcement has finally been made.
Reports confirm that the Disney+ fantasy series has cast Courtney B. Vance ("The Mummy," "Terminator Genisys") to succeed the late Lance Reddick as Zeus. He is set to make his debut in the show's second season.
In addition to the recasting of Zeus, it was previously announced that acclaimed singer Andra Day will join the cast as Athena, the goddess of wisdom. Other new characters appearing in the upcoming season include Daniel Diemer as the Cyclops Tyson and Tamara Smart as Thalia Grace, daughter of Zeus.
The main cast, including Walker Scobell as Percy Jackson, Leah Sava Jeffries as Annabeth Chase, and Aryan Simhadri as the satyr Grover Underwood, will return for the second season of "Percy Jackson," alongside series regulars Charlie Bushnell and Dior Goodjohn.
