Last Friday was a major day for release date announcements, with several Hollywood studios staking their claim on the 2025 calendar. First up, Sony Pictures has slated its "Anaconda" reboot, from "The Unbearable Weight of Massive Talent" director Tom Gormican, for a Christmas Day 2025 release.
The new "Anaconda" stars Paul Rudd, Jack Black, and Daniela Melchior. Sony has yet to reveal the official plot synopsis.
Meanwhile, A24 is setting up a holiday showdown, scheduling "Marty Supreme"—the Marty Reisman biopic from "Uncut Gems" director Josh Safdie—for the same Christmas Day 2025 release.
The film features an eclectic cast that includes Fran Drescher, Timothée Chalamet, Gwyneth Paltrow, rapper Tyler, the Creator, and "Zeros and Ones" director Abel Ferrara. The project is described as a blend of "The Wolf of Wall Street" and "Catch Me If You Can."
Also crowding the Christmas 2025 slate is Lionsgate's "The Housemaid," an adaptation of the bestselling novel. The film, directed by Paul Feig ("Ghostbusters"), stars Sydney Sweeney and Amanda Seyfried.
