Mattel, Amazon, and MGM are teaming up for a new live-action "He-Man and the Masters of the Universe" film, and just days after the cast for four villainous roles was announced, some intriguing plot details have already surfaced.

Renowned film journalist Daniel Richtman reported today on his Patreon page that in this live-action "He-Man" adaptation, protagonist Prince Adam will be living in the real world, working a mundane office job. The familiar "He-Man" lore, as audiences know it, will be presented as merely stories he heard as a child. This narrative device, where a protagonist is placed in a "real-world" setting and their original fantastical world becomes a fictional creation within their new reality, was notably seen in "The Matrix Resurrections." In that film, Neo was re-plugged into the Matrix and given the profession of a video game designer, with the Matrix deceiving him into believing the events of the first three films were merely fictional plots he had designed for a game.

The new "He-Man" live-action film is directed by Travis Knight, known for "Kubo and the Two Strings," with Chris Butler, co-writer of "Kubo," penning the screenplay. The film is slated for a global release on June 5, 2026.

The star-studded cast includes Nicholas Galitzine as Prince Adam (pictured above), Sam C. Wilson as Mer-Man, Hafthor Bjornsson as Beast Man, Kojo Attah as Tri-Klops, Jared Leto as Skeletor, Alison Brie as Evil-Lyn, Idris Elba as Man-At-Arms, and Camila Mendes as Teela.
