After an arduous eight-year legal battle that frequently dominated entertainment headlines, Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie have officially finalized their divorce, signing an agreement yesterday, December 30.
Jolie's lawyer, James Simon, issued a statement on her behalf, saying that Angelina filed for divorce from Mr. Pitt over eight years ago, and with her children, relinquished all shared property with him. Since then, she has focused on finding peace and healing for their family. Simon noted that this was just a small part of a long journey that began eight years ago, and while Angelina was honestly exhausted, she was relieved that this path had concluded.

Jolie initially filed for divorce in 2016, but the process was prolonged by her allegations of domestic abuse against Pitt, custody disputes, and a contentious ownership battle over their French vineyard, ultimately extending the divorce proceedings to eight years.
The vineyard case, however, remains ongoing. Pitt has accused Jolie of selling his shares without his consent, while Jolie maintains she only sold her own stake. She has also counter-alleged that Pitt demanded she sign a non-disclosure agreement (NDA) if she wished to sell her half of the winery, which would prevent her from discussing Pitt's alleged physical and psychological abuse of her and their children outside of court. Last month, the court rejected Jolie's motion to dismiss the lawsuit, with friends of Pitt reportedly stating he is confident he will ultimately prevail.
