The market surge led by the Nintendo Switch has prompted numerous hardware manufacturers to enter the "big handheld era," developing their own portable gaming devices. Beyond Sony Interactive Entertainment's "PlayStation Portal", Valve's "Steam Deck", ROG's gaming handheld "ROG Ally", and Zotac's debut handheld "GAMING ZONE", Atari—a dominant force in gaming during the 1970s—continues its participation in this fierce market competition, following last year's release of the "Gamestation Portable."

Atari is once again collaborating with long-time partner My Arcade to develop their latest portable gaming console, the "GameStation Go." A sneak peek at the hardware's exterior in the teaser video reveals that the number pad below the XYAB buttons incorporates design elements from the 1982 Atari 5200 "CX-52 controller".

The previous "Gamestation Portable" notably supported Trak-Ball and Paddle functions, which were essential for experiencing classic games like "Centipede", "Missile Command", and "Breakout". The number keypad, meanwhile, was used for titles such as "Codebreaker" and "Brain Games". Based on current information, it is expected that the "GameStation Go" will also feature these iconic classic titles.
Further details regarding Atari's "GameStation Go" handheld are slated for unveiling at CES 2025, which kicks off on January 7.
