The "Art in Gashapon" series, released by Japan's Bandai GASHAPON capsule toy brand in collaboration with artists, will launch new products for "Time Bokan" (タイムボカン) in late January! There are three models to collect: Time Mechabuton, Time Dotabattan, and Time Kuwagattan~ The suggested retail price is 1,500 Japanese Yen per capsule.
2025 marks the 50th anniversary of "Time Bokan" since its broadcast in 1975. The high-tech vehicle "Time Mechabuton," developed by Dr. Kieta and capable of traversing time, is revived in modern form! Furthermore, "Time Dotabattan" and "Time Kuwagattan," two classic vehicles later completed by the doctor, also make their appearance. For this new "Time Bokan" release, Japanese sculptor "Matsuoka Michihiro," known for combining biological features with futuristic machinery, has been invited once again to design them. While retaining their iconic external elements, he has infused exquisite detail sculpting and new designs, along with a significant presence in size (approximately 12 cm long) and articulation. This is sure to excite long-time fans, who will want to collect all three!
In addition to admiring Matsuoka Michihiro's excellent sculpting design on the surface of the three vehicles, each vehicle is also equipped with an unfolding mechanism that allows for a detailed view of its internal components. Collectors of the "Ikimono Dai Zukan" (いきもの大図鑑) capsule toys can even utilize parts like stands and beetle wings from that series to give the three "Time Bokan" vehicles a fresh, more biological appearance – absolutely cool!
