While everyone was buzzing about the highly anticipated NVIDIA GeForce RTX 50 series graphics cards, gamers at the annual Consumer Electronics Show (CES) 2025 were also keeping a keen eye out for any whispers from Nintendo regarding their next-gen console, the Nintendo Switch 2.

And as the exhibition rolled into its second day, reports from various international media outlets began circulating: Genki, a well-known accessory manufacturer, was reportedly showcasing a replica model of the Nintendo Switch 2 in a private, non-public setting, immediately grabbing significant attention.
According to German tech outlet Netzwelt, this replica model felt noticeably larger than the current Switch. Furthermore, the Joy-Con controllers reportedly detached differently – sliding out from the side instead of pulling upwards. This design change is attributed to the new console adopting a magnetic connection system, aiming for improved ease of attachment and stability. This detail aligns almost perfectly with previous rumors that have been circulating.
Beyond the revamped connection method, the right Joy-Con controller is rumored to feature an additional, unmarked button, sparking widespread speculation about potential new functionalities. What's certain is that these changes likely indicate Nintendo's plans for significant innovations in the gameplay experience, opening up a world of new possibilities for players.
Adding fuel to the fire, media outlets recently discovered unreleased Nintendo Switch 2 protective cases popping up on the online shopping platform Amazon. These listings also inadvertently revealed the shape of the console's rear kickstand. Interestingly, this design perfectly matches the "U-shaped" kickstand that has been rumored for some time. While Nintendo has yet to officially confirm any of these leaks, the information provided in the Amazon product listings seems to indirectly corroborate the ongoing rumors.

Another intriguing detail from the Amazon listings is the specified release date for these Nintendo Switch 2 protective cases: March 15, 2025. If this date holds true, it suggests we might finally get an official look at the rumored next-gen Nintendo console around March of this year. After all, this timeframe does align with Nintendo's previously hinted announcement window.
Whether the console will indeed launch as rumored remains to be seen. We'll just have to wait and find out!
