The popular assembly model shokugan series "SHOKUGAN MODELING PROJECT," released by BANDAI CANDY, the shokugan division of Japan's Bandai Co., Ltd., has announced its latest product, "Majin Gattai Majiking," from the Super Sentai series tokusatsu work "Mahou Sentai Magiranger," slated for release in June 2025.
The five warriors of Mahou Sentai are siblings from the magical "Ozu Family," who use various spells and magical tools to fight against the underground Hades "Infershia." The giant robots they use differ from most Sentai settings, as the five individuals themselves can transform into five legendary Majin/Magic Machines: "Magic Phoenix," "Magic Garuda," "Magic Mermaid," "Magic Fairy," and "Magic Taurus." They can then combine into the giant dragon form "Majin Dragon" and the Majin form "Majiking."
"Majiking" can be said to be one of the most complex transforming and combining robots in Super Sentai history. Therefore, this SMP version brings together the main design and development personnel from several past Majiking products, inheriting the transformation and combination mechanism of the DX toy version while further improving its articulation and sculpt. Through the model kit specifications, it extensively presents the charm of the five Magic Machines, the combined Majiking, and Majin Dragon.
The five Magic Machines – "Magic Phoenix," "Magic Garuda," "Magic Mermaid," "Magic Fairy," and "Magic Taurus" – boast cooler sculpts and body proportions compared to the DX version. For instance, Magic Phoenix, transformed from Magi Red, has numerous additional joints throughout its body, featuring as many as 24 points of articulation. Magic Taurus has a newly added original mechanism on its shoulder, allowing Magic Fairy to stand on it. Each machine can be posed individually in dynamic stances.
"Majin Dragon," formed by the combination of the four Magic Machines excluding Magic Phoenix, possesses an incredibly powerful sculpt and size. Influenced by the significantly enhanced articulation of each individual machine, Majin Dragon can also be posed in more dynamic stances. The wing parts feature the same matte finish as the original DX toy, enhancing their texture, and Magic Phoenix can ride on its back.
After the five Majin combine into "Majiking," its physique and sculpt are noticeably superior to the DX version, with the head sculpt having undergone continuous fine-tuning through 10 iterations. The articulation of each joint remains flexible after combination, allowing for poses such as dual-wielding swords and high kneeling. The weapon "King Calibur" is formed by combining the sword, trident, and axe from Magic Phoenix, Magic Mermaid, and Magic Taurus, enabling the recreation of scenes where its finishing move "Magical Slash" is unleashed.
