Bandai Co., Ltd. today officially announced a new soft vinyl figure series themed around Toho's Godzilla monster series, 'JAPAN GODZILLA'. The first products, 'Godzilla (2023) Mount Fuji' and 'Godzilla (2023) Ink Wash', are scheduled for release on February 8, 2025.
The new 'JAPAN GODZILLA' series distinguishes itself from Bandai's current MOVIE MONSTER and other soft vinyl figures that primarily reproduce original character colors. This series applies color schemes inspired by Japanese culture and landscapes, such as ink wash paintings and Mount Fuji, to the base of the Godzilla soft vinyl figures. This allows tourists visiting Japan from other countries, who are fans of the Godzilla IP, to purchase suitable souvenirs to take home.
■ JAPAN GODZILLA Godzilla (2023) Mount Fuji
The first two products in this series are modified from the 5-inch "Godzilla (2023)" soft vinyl figures sold by Bandai in overseas markets. The Mount Fuji version features metallic blue and silver-white paintwork on a clear blue body, evoking the blue mountain ranges and snow-capped peak of Mount Fuji as seen in traditional Japanese paintings. The Ink Wash version applies a rich black sweep over a white molded body, creating a vivid black-and-white contrast that represents paper and ink.
